The episode, titled “The Hunt for the Truth,” centers on Jagriti’s narrow escape and Kalpana’s secret rebellion.
The Jungle Chase
The episode opens with Jagriti running through the dense forest bordering the village. The Zamindar’s men, led by the ruthless Bhairav, are hot on her trail with hunting dogs. Jagriti is clutching the red file—the only proof that the community’s land was stolen decades ago through forged signatures. She uses her knowledge of the terrain to hide inside a hollow banyan tree, narrowly avoiding a search party.
Kalpana’s Silent Defiance
Back at the haveli, Kalpana is interrogated by her father, the Zamindar. He suspects she helped Jagriti find the keys to his safe. Kalpana puts on a mask of innocence, claiming she was in the temple all afternoon. However, when her father leaves, she discreetly sends a message to Suraj, the young idealistic teacher, telling him to meet Jagriti at the “Old Well” at midnight with a bicycle and water.
The Betrayal within the Basti
In the Chitta Basti, fear is spreading. Bhairav’s men threaten to burn down the huts if Jagriti doesn’t surrender the file. Ganga, one of the elders who has always been fearful, tries to convince Jagriti’s mother to give up her daughter’s location. A rift forms in the community: the youth want to fight alongside Jagriti, while the elders fear a repeat of the “Massacre of ’98.”
The Climax: The Midnight Meeting
The episode ends at the Old Well. Jagriti arrives, exhausted and scratched from the thorns. Suraj is waiting for her, but as they exchange the file, a bright flashlight hits them. It’s the local Police Inspector, who is on the Zamindar’s payroll. He mocks them, saying, “A bird shouldn’t try to fly when its wings are already sold.” The final shot is of Jagriti standing on the edge of the well, the file held high, threatening to jump and take the secrets with her.

Precap for Tomorrow:
Jagriti doesn’t jump; instead, she uses a slingshot to distract the Inspector and flees into the darkness. Meanwhile, the District Magistrate receives an anonymous tip about the missing file and announces a surprise visit to the village. The Zamindar realizes that if Jagriti reaches the DM first, his family’s reign will end. He orders his men to “shoot to kill” anyone seen with the red file.
