Mahid watches the confrontation from the shadows. His anger at Fuffisa’s cruelty outweighs his own rigid upbringing. In a move that shocks both Seher and the watching family members, Mahid grabs his car keys, walks down to the gate, and commands the guard to open it. When Fuffisa tries to stop him, Mahid says, “A house that imprisons its daughters-in-law while their mothers are dying is not a home, it’s a jail.”
The Climax: The Hospital Confrontation
Mahid drives Seher to the hospital. They arrive just as Kausar is being wheeled into the ICU. However, the episode ends on a cliffhanger at the hospital reception. As Mahid goes to pay the bills, he sees Dr. Fareed (his own psychiatrist) talking to Seher’s sister, Amaal. He overhears Fareed saying, “The secret we’ve been keeping about the Niyazi family and Kausar’s past must come out now if we want to save her.” The final shot is of Mahid’s face turning pale as he realizes his family is more deeply connected to Seher’s tragedy than he ever imagined.
